Sri Sankaradeva Netralaya, Guwahati - Serving North-East India
Sri Sankaradeva Netralaya in Guwahati, Assam, was founded with the blessings and guidance of Their Holiness Sri Sankaracharya Swamijis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. The Netralaya was dedicated to the Nation on 24, November 1995 by the then Prime Minister Late Sri. P.V. Narasimha Rao.
With the establishment of the Netralaya, the need for patients to travel to distant cities for seeking treatment has ceased to exist and quality eye care is available locally to the North-East region.
The Nethralaya, besides being a renowned eye hospital and Service Organisation, is also an acclaimed center for Postgraduate training, research and rehabilitation. It has primary eye clinics, modern well equipped opertion theatres, extensive out patient department with a wide range of sub speciality clinical & non-clinical support services, indoor wards and community outreach centre.
The institution provides consultations and treatment to the patients of the entire North Eastern region, and adjoining states of India as well as neighbouring countries. Periodic outreach camps are conducted in several parts of North-East India.
